GENERAL FAQs

What does Intiwash contain?

Intiwash contains Lactic acid, Sea Buckthorn fruit oil and Tea tree oil. Intiwash is a specially formulated gentle, cleansing and refreshing intimate wash. Intiwash restores and maintains the pH of the intimate area.

What is pH?

pH is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of any substance. Solutions with a pH less than 7 are said to be acidic and solutions with a pH greater than 7 are alkaline. Most of the soaps have pH greater than 8.

Why is pH balance important?

The normal healthy vagina is acidic and the pH ranges from 3.5-4.5. This pH is ideal for maintaining the normal intimate flora. If this balance is disturbed, harmful bacteria can multiply, leading to discomforting symptoms like itching, irritation, burning, unpleasant odour & dryness, in the intimate area.

What are the symptoms when pH changes?

The most common symptoms are itching, irritation, burning, unpleasant odour and dryness. Hence, it is of paramount importance that you take utmost care daily to maintain the intimate pH (at an ideal range of 3.5 to 4.5).

What is normal intimate flora?

Normal intimate flora is the bacteria that are present in the intimate area. The normal intimate flora is dominated by Lactobacillus bacteria, which produces lactic acid that inhibits the growth of other harmful bacteria. Thus, it prevents itching, irritation, burning, unpleasant odour, dryness, infection and inflammation.

What is the importance of Lactic acid?

Lactic acid (also known as “milk” acid) is very important in protecting your intimate area. Lactic acid maintains acidic environment in the intimate area that helps to maintain the ideal pH balance of 3.5.

What is Sea Buckthorn fruit Oil & Tea Tree oil?

Sea Buckthorn Oil and Tea Tree oil are naturally derived ingredients with medicinal properties. Sea Buckthorn fruit Oil is an antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties that nourishes the intimate area; whereas, Tea Tree Oil has an antimicrobial action.

What are the conditions that can lead to itching, irritation, burning, dryness, unpleasant odour or excessive vaginal discharge, in the intimate area?

The following conditions can cause the health of the intimate area to deteriorate:
  • Infections in the intimate area
  • Lack of hygiene in the intimate area
  • Use of soap, dyed or scented toilet paper
  • Use of synthetic undergarments, tight clothes
  • Menstruation and post delivery changes in the body
  • Sexual intercourse
  • Use of contraceptive pills and condoms
  • Menopause & Post-menopause

Why do I need a special hygiene product like Intiwash instead of regular soap and water for taking care of my intimate area?

Unlike soap (pH > 8) and water (pH = 7), Intiwash helps in maintaining a natural pH of 3.5 in the intimate area and restores healthy intimate flora.
